November 2, 2009 by hodgesrealestateDemand at this weekend’s residential auctions has been very healthy and is consistent with the past 24 weekends when a clearance rate of 80 per cent or more has been achieved.
There have been 339 auctions reported to the REIV, of which a total of 278 sold and 58 were passed in. The clearance rate is 83 per cent. Of the homes passed in, 31 were passed in on a vendors bid.
Auction numbers will increase over the next few weeks following this brief dip in listings due to the Melbourne Cup.

October 26, 2009 by hodgesrealestateThis weekend has more auctions scheduled than any other weekend this year yet the clearance rate has so far remained consistent with the last 5 months – above 80 per cent.
This is an indication of the depth of demand, a factor of confidence in the economy and the cities increasing population.
It also suggests that pressure on prices is likely to continue between now and Christmas.
There were 882 auctions reported this weekend of which 670 sold resulting in a clearance rate of 82 per cent.
There were 160 homes passed in, of which 90 were passed in on a vendors bid.
The REIV expects around 380 auctions next weekend.

scheduled this year and results from this weekend show that demand remains
consistent with the performance in the last few months. The REIV
expects that whilst they will not welcome increases in interest rates,
most buyers will have priced into their budget.
There were 621 auctions reported this weekend of which 498 sold resulting in
a clearance rate of 80 per cent. A total of 124 homes were passed in,
of which 75 were passed in on a vendors bid.
Next weekend there are just over 1000 auctions scheduled which may
shift the balance in favour of buyers for the first time in the last
few months.
